SHOW
This year’s 4 ½ hour Festival features Mexico’s legendary Mariachi Vargas de Tecalitlan, Grammy Nominee Mariachi Los Arrieros del Valle from Texas, the popular Mariachi Estrella de Jalisco and Mariachi Los Reyes both from Los Angeles. Also celebrating their debut at the Festival is Grammy Nominee Trio Ellas. The 20 member Mi Tierra Ballet Folklorico adds to the evening’s extravaganza with their amazing choreography and colorful costumes.
A musical tribute to legendary composer and performer Jose Alfredo Jimenez is slated for this year’s show. Jimenez wrote over 1,000 songs, amongst the most famous of these; El Rey, Ella and Si nos Dejan. This year marks the 40th anniversary of his passing but his songs are more famous than ever.
“Clearly one of the top 3 most prolific and highly regarded composers and singers Mexico has ever produced, Jose Alfredo’s songs is the music staple of every Mariachi and Mariachi music aficionado alike. Our tribute includes medleys being performed by each group,” commented Rodri J. Rodriguez.
Topping off this action packed lineup is a spectacular fireworks finale that accompanies the traditional sing along of 17,000 fans singing to El Rey, Volver Volver, La Negra and to kick off the American Independence Festivities, a special Mariachi rendition of Yankee Doodle Dandee!
